Framing instructions for matted paper prints

  1. Prepare your frame by removing all packaging. Remove the backboard from the frame. If your frame came with a matboard remove and discard (or save for a different print).

  2. Remove your print from the plastic bag, ensuring the adhesive strip on the bag does not touch the print. When handling the print, only hold it by the matboard.

  3. Place the print face-down in the frame on top of the glass.

  4. Replace the backboard and display your framed print.

Steps

  • When buying a frame, look for simple frames made of high quality materials, like wood or metal. Our matboards are thick, so we would recommend finding a frame that uses bendable metal tabs to secure the backboard to the frame.

  • We would highly suggest removing the glass from your frame and cleaning it prior to placing the print in the frame.

  • Holding your print by the matboard ensures that the oils from your hands don’t transfer to the print. Over time, these oils can affect the quality and appearance of your print.

  • While plexiglass/acrylic is lighter and shatter-proof, we would still recommend using glass for your framed prints because of its high scratch-resistance and clarity.

  • If you don’t want to frame your print yourself, you can purchase a frame in the gallery and we’ll frame it for you!
