The Photographer
Ethan Rouse is a nature and wildlife photographer, born in Halifax and currently based in Baddeck, Nova Scotia.
Growing up surrounded by Nova Scotia’s natural beauty, he developed a deep appreciation for the landscapes and wildlife that define this area. Beginning in 2022 with a family travel camera and a zoom lens, he quickly became enamoured with photographing backyard birds and small mammals. As this passion evolved, and the seasons changed, he turned his camera to the ever-beautiful natural landscapes and wildlife of Cape Breton. In 2025, he, along with his wife Nova, opened a gallery that they continue to operate in the Old Post Office (Gilbert H. Grosvenor Hall) in Baddeck.
Today, he focuses on capturing the essence of Cape Breton, from stunning waterfalls to the island’s diverse wildlife. Each photo is an attempt to share and connect to the nearly incomprehensible beauty of the island and the creatures that inhabit it.
